What We Do…
At our center in Pokhara, Nepal we run a community center that provides a safe space for children to grow, develop, and heal. Although our center is our home base we continue work to empower everyone around the world to join the fight against trafficking.
Through holistic care we believe that each child can become who they were meant to be and break the cycle of human trafficking and child marriage.

Twice a week we run a program for middle and high school girls and boys living in safe homes. This group combines movement with social emotional lessons to provide an embodied healing experience for the children we work with. Some of the topics we focus on are self-worth, emotional intelligence, self-care, and boundaries. We incorporate movement into every session, providing them a space to build strength and resilience from the inside out. At the end of each season the girls and boys participate in the Tali Koum Games as a way to show off all the hard work they have put in!
Each child also is connected with an older sister or brother that will encourage and support them throughout the season.

Once a week we offer a program for younger children that uses arts and crafts to foster trauma processing and healing. Each month has a specific theme/concept that guides each child in their healing journey. Some of these themes include exploring different emotions, reactions verses responses, and regulation.

Tali Koum Collective works to fill in the gaps that traditional school can not meet. We work with children’s homes and hostels in Nepal to provide trainings on how to take care of themselves. The children we see range from Pre-K to 12th grade. In the past these trainings have been on Emotional Regulation, Coping Strategies, How to Identify Your Feelings, Journaling, and Mental Health.

Samudaaya means community in Nepali. We offer a space where adults in our community can come for conversation and connection and where little ones can come to play. We provide the space, toys and time that it takes for children to learn and grow through free play.

One of the greatest roles that Tali Koum Collective holds is to advocate for what each child needs. This involves showing up and tending to the heavy wounds these children carry and finding real and powerful ways to support them.
This also means creating ways for others to participate in this work. This includes raising awareness, providing education, and creating material for everyone to engage with.

Tali Koum Collective is working with another partner to start Trauma Healing Groups. The goal of these groups is to help children process and move through their trauma so they are able to live their life to the fullest. These groups will most likely contain 8-10 children with 2-3 facilitators. The group would also run for a few weeks at a time.
Stayed tuned for more updates!

We would love to give the women in our community a space where they can uplift and support each other. We are hoping to start a walking program where women can do just that through walking and talking!
Stay tuned!
